Rice proteins and rice hydrolysates
Elementa has begun to market rice proteins and rice hydrolysates from PEVESA.
Rice proteins are a by-product of the rice starch industry. PEVESA first concentrates proteins up to 80% and then further hydrolyzes them to improve solubility and digestibility.
Rice proteins and rice protein hydrolysates have an amino-acid profile very close to cow’s milk proteins. They have no compulsory allergen labeling and do not contain phytohormones as soja proteins do.
Rice proteins are a valuable plant-based alternative to cow’s milk proteins in high protein slimming products or sport nutrition. Rice proteins benefit from several health claims: “Protein contributes to growth in muscle mass”, “Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass” and “Protein contributes to the maintenance of normal bones”.
Rice protein hydrolysates are mainly used in infant formulae as an alternative to cow’s milk proteins due to its non-allergenic properties.
